the Ministry of Culture - General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums Recently issued in cooperation with the Al-Basel Center for Scientific Research, a book entitled (The History of Architecture in Ancient Syria from its Inception until the End of the Second Millennium}, written by: Dr. Ola Al-Mahdi Al-Tunisi.
On the cover of the Book we read:
The ancient Syrian kingdoms left us written texts that allowed us to learn about many features of Syrian civilization. But architecture has a prominent role in clarifying the characteristics of that exceptional civilization. During the early historical ages, civilized features and traditions emerged, highlighted by regular city planning, urban development in general, and the diversity of its forms and the appearance of a variety of architectural styles that characterized the fortifications of cities and residential buildings. There were also special architectural traditions according to which Syrian palaces and religious and administrative buildings were built. Which confirms the great civilized role that Syria played despite its lack of strong military authorities (empires), like the many countries that arose in Mesopotamia (such as the Acadian, Assyrian and Babylonian states), or in Anatolia (the Hittite state), or in Egypt Paranoiac.
